End of Year Hockey Report

Our Hockey teams had their best year yet in the academic year 16/17 and we continue to build on our specialism as a hockey and rugby school with each year that goes by. We had upwards of 40 people involved in hockey throughout the school year whether that was in a leadership, officiating or playing capacity. We had league success in the first area leagues in school hockey. Our U15 and U13 teams both finished 2nd in their leagues and cups with our U13 B team winning the area Hockey plate. A fantastic overall display of local dominance for the school and things to build on for the coming years.

The Spring Cup was the pinnacle of our hockey season with both of our hockey teams taking the titles helping us to overall victory. Both teams improved on last year’s second place results to really show the hard work and the progress that the teams were putting in. Not only local, but now trust wide dominance as well!

Next year we look to take this even further with squad trials, a team selection process and specialist squad training each week as we hope to build upon the hockey foundation that runs through SGS. The Sports Celebrations Evening was a fantastic opportunity to congratulate our Players of the Year in hockey who were: Isabelle Coleman, Libby Dennis, Lucy Bell and Manuela Camarero.
