Skegness Grammar School strikes gold with School Games award

Skegness Grammar School, part of the David Ross Education Trust, has been awarded the prestigious Gold School Games Mark Award.

The Gold School Games Mark Award is presented to schools that offer a variety of outstanding opportunities for students and members of the local community to participate in sport.

The School Games programme, an initiative funded by Sport England and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, is designed to keep competitive sport at the heart of schools by providing opportunities for young people to take part in competitions and achieve their personal best.

During the last academic year alone, Skegness Grammar School has hosted over 800 extra-curricular sessions, which have focused on 10 different sports. The grammar school has also hosted competitions for primary school pupils, ran leadership courses for staff and held sports events for young people in the local area.

Mr Shaw, Head of Physical Education at Skegness Grammar School, said: “Through the David Ross Education Trust’s pioneering enrichment programme, we encourage our talented athletes to enhance their sporting skills through a wide range of incredible sporting opportunities.

“It has been fantastic to get our hands on the Gold School Games Mark Award. It is a real testament to our hardworking students and staff at Skegness Grammar School.”
